AllBabble started out as a seed of an idea proposed by Michael Edelson - an investor and founder of several technology companies.
Michael saw huge potential in combining the booming mobile market with social networking and celebreties.
Engine Room Apps, Daily Internet and Offficial formed a strategic partnership to develop the concept and take it to market.
We started by setting up a panel of experts from all companies. The goal was to develop the seed concept into something attractive, unique and viable.
The concept behind AllBabble was elaborated by Chris Baxter and Lee Sommerville of Engine Room Apps, and by Alastair Curtis and Jamie Lyons from Offficial.
Abby Hardoon of Daily Internet and Tobin Harris of Engine Room Apps also brought their expertise to the table.
Michael Edelson also continued to contribute ideas throughout.
Reaching the widest market requires launching on several platforms.
iOS and Android allow us to reach 270 million users, a great starting point for the AllBabble pilot. Both iPhone and Android were launched in April 2011.
We're building a mobile web version of AllBabble allowing us to increase our market reach further. This will allow BlackBerry and Symbian audiences to enjoy AllBabble.
Engine Room Apps architected AllBabble to be completely cloud-based.
This gives us low operational and infrastructural costs, and also reduced time-to-market. We're leaning on excellent specialist providers such as Heroku and MongoHQ.
AllBabble is built on mature Open Source technologies including RubyOnRails and MongoDb.
These excellent technologies allow us to build scalable, high throughput solutions without spending fortunes on licensing. The communities around these products continue to amaze us.
